Persuasive speeches are very common in political parties and they give a lot of voice to the minds of the masses. A persuasive speech is not only popular because of its outstanding principles but also because of its qualities and abilities that make a speech both interesting and memorable.
One of the major aspects that makes persuasive speeches so popular is the fact that they involve the exchange of ideas between the speaker and the audience. People listen attentively to a lot of words and at times even with the help of a pen or some hands they open their eyes for a moment and then start searching the people that are present in the arena. But when a person stands up and speaks in front of these thousands of people, he or she is giving the audience the chance to express their opinions about it. The next factor that gives the power to the audiences to share their views with persuasive speeches is the fact that in most cases, they are speaking under a leader or team. This not only gives the people who have different views on an issue a chance to come together and work together to improve the political situation in the country. Leaders can also encourage the crowd to stand up and show their support for the speaker by chanting slogans that support the kind of principles and ideals that the speaker stands for. These are facts that speak a lot about the power of effective leadership and about the value of this role that we need in the society. Another fact that makes persuasive speeches so powerful is the fact that they touch the lives of the masses in a very big way. They not only reach a wider audience but also change the way they see things. They become bolder and start questioning the way the government is handling certain issues and thus move away from the moralistic views and focus on their own values. This will bring a better and more educated voice to their minds. Since the speech involves an element of persuasion, the audience should be made to realize the relevance of the speech. They should be made to understand that the speaker has something to say that is worth listening to. There must be proper introduction of the speaker and a proper explanation of what he/she is going to say. If this is done, then the audience will have a chance to understand and learn the whole point of the speech. To further increase the impact of the speech, the whole party should be kept informed about what is being said. This will not only allow the leader to give a personal opinion to the crowd but also give the crowd a chance to ask their own questions. Though the basic features of persuasive policy speeches are mentioned above, there are many other factors that one should consider. The dynamics of the speech, its content, mode of delivery, the gestures, the script and so on are all different in each case. It is always important to remember that persuasive policy speeches should be kept within the limits of what is possible and should also have a good flow. If a speech fails to carry the audience on a ride, it is a sign that it is not really a persuasive speech.
